By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Analyze Legal Mechanisms: Evaluate the provisions of the ICZM Protocol (specifically Article 8) and explain the spatial, ecological, and risk-reduction rationale for establishing a mandatory 100-meter setback zone.

2. Apply Spatial Typologies: Categorize coastal zones across four structural tiers (entirely artificial, semi-artificial, transitional, and semi-natural) and select appropriate Nature-Based Solutions tailored to each typology.

3. Assess Landscape Ecological Functions: Explain how ecosystem elements (e.g., forests, wetlands, dunes) retain moisture, slow stormwater runoff, prevent soil erosion, and reduce urban heat islands.

4. Utilize Resilience Indicators: Identify key marine (sea level rise, pH, wave energy) and terrestrial (wetland restoration rates, flood extent, forest cover) indicators to track coastal adaptation performance.
