The main objective of this project is to raise young people's awareness of marine litter, plastic pollution, marine biodiversity conservation, and sustainable consumption, while empowering them to adopt environmentally responsible behaviours and contribute to a plastic-free future. This initiative is coordinated by Ankara University National Center for the Sea and Maritime Law (DEHUKAM) in Türkiye, in collaboration with the University of Montenegro, Federazione Internazionale per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile e la Lotta alla Povertà nel Mediterraneo Mar Nero (FISPMED) in Italy, and the Fundació Privada Universitat Abat Oliba CEU in Spain. The project includes three thematic training programmes designed to strengthen young people's knowledge and awareness of marine biodiversity, plastic pollution, sustainable consumption, and waste reduction through interactive and practical learning experiences. Training on Sustainable Consumption and the Circular Economy will take place in Izmir, Türkiye, from 13 to 16 October 2026. This training focuses on raising awareness of the circular economy, unsustainable consumption, and marine litter. Participants will learn waste reduction strategies, environmentally friendly choices, and critical consumption assessment through interactive and non-formal education methodologies. Our training programmes consist of different units delivered by expert academics and professionals from partner institutions, offering a practical and interdisciplinary approach to marine conservation and sustainability. Participants will take part in interactive workshops and training modules focusing on sustainable consumption, circular economy principles, marine litter, and environmental responsibility. The programme also provides opportunities to exchange experiences, develop practical skills, and build international networks with young people from different countries. All training sessions will be conducted in English. We are looking for highly motivated young people aged 18–29 who are interested in marine conservation, environmental sustainability, and plastic pollution. Participants are expected to actively contribute throughout the training by participating in discussions, group activities, and interactive learning exercises. All selected participants will be provided with shared accommodation for the duration of the training. Lunch and one dinner will be covered by the organisers. Travel grants will also be provided to support travel expenses, and further details will be shared with selected participants.
