Youth4CliMed – CASS IV projectThis application form has been specifically designed for the ‘Climate Change Awareness in the Mediterranean from Youth Perspective (Youth4CliMed)’ Climate Awareness and Sustainability Skills Development (CASS) Trainings organised under the Erasmus+ KA220 project. The main objective of this project is to raise young people's awareness of the effects of climate change on the Mediterranean, to educate them on sustainable environmental practices, and to empower them as individuals who actively contribute to marine conservation and solution-oriented leadership. This initiative is coordinated by Ankara University National Center for the Sea and Maritime Law (DEHUKAM) in Türkiye, in collaboration with the following institutions: Dokuz Eylül University in Türkiye, the Priority Actions Programme Regional Activity Centre (PAP/RAC) in Croatia, Federazione Internazionale per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile e la Lotta alla Povertà nel Mediterraneo Mar Nero (FISPMED) in Italy, and the Fundació Privada Universitat Abat Oliba CEU in Spain. Climate Awareness and Sustainability Skills Development Trainings (CASS) is a comprehensive capacity-building initiative designed to strengthen youth understanding and engagement in addressing climate change and promoting sustainability across the Mediterranean region. The programme aims to raise awareness of climate change, enhance sustainability skills, and equip participants with the ability to identify and address environmental challenges through innovative, practical, and collaborative approaches. CASS also provides a platform for international cooperation and networking, bringing together young people from different countries to exchange knowledge and develop joint solutions for a more resilient and sustainable Mediterranean. Within this framework, three more thematic trainings will be organized: CASS IV - Youth Engagement and Action for Climate Change in the Mediterranean Training will take place in Izmir, Turkey, in 11 to 17 October 2026. This training focuses on empowering young leaders to drive environmental advocacy, regional cooperation, and sustainable climate action in the Mediterranean. Participants will explore the principles of the Blue Economy, sustainable marine policies, and community-led conservation. Through interactive non-formal education methodologies such as World Café discussions, Fishbowl dialogues, and SWOT analyses, youth will learn how to translate scientific knowledge into actionable solutions and finalize the project's Youth Declaration. Our training programmes consist of different units delivered by expert academics and professionals from partner institutions, offering a practical and interdisciplinary approach to climate action. Participants will take part in interactive workshops and training modules focusing on climate change, environmental protection and sustainability in the Mediterranean region. The programmes also include research activities on conservation strategies and youth participation, skills development sessions in leadership, project management and policy advocacy, and opportunities to build international networks with like-minded peers and experts. All training sessions will be conducted in English. We are looking for highly motivated young people aged 18-30 who are interested in climate change, sustainability and marine conservation. Participants are expected to actively contribute throughout the training by participating in discussions, group activities and drafting exercises. The outcomes and reflections from these activities will directly contribute to the final ‘Youth Declaration,’ a key output of the project that will be presented to relevant stakeholders and policy platforms. All selected participants will be provided with shared accommodation for the duration of the training. Lunch and one dinner will be covered by the organisers. Travel grants will also be provided to support travel expenses, and details will be shared with selected participants.
