Climate Change Awareness in the Mediterranean from Youth Perspective
The “Climate Change Awareness in the Mediterranean from Youth Perspective” project is a transnational initiative aimed at enhancing youth awareness and participation in the face of escalating environmental challenges in the Mediterranean region. The project brings together a diverse consortium of research institutions, universities, and civil society organizations to develop an interdisciplinary framework combining science, law, and education to empower youth in climate action.
While the Mediterranean Sea is a cradle of biodiversity, culture, and economic activity, it is increasingly threatened by climate change, marine pollution, coastal erosion, and biodiversity loss. These problems demand not only international cooperation but also active youth engagement, education, and leadership.
This project directly addresses this need by offering structured educational programs, digital learning tools, hands-on activities, and youth-driven policy proposals. The project aligns with the goals of the Barcelona Convention and contributes to broader EU objectives on climate action, marine sustainability, and youth empowerment.
