Veronique Evers holds a Master’s degree in Geography from the University of Maine, France. She currently works for the Priority Actions Programme Regional Activity Centre (PAP/RAC) of the UNEP/MAP – Barcelona Convention system, where she mainly supports Southern Mediterranean countries in advancing Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) and sustainable coastal development. Her work takes place in a regional cooperation context aimed at strengthening exchanges and collaboration between Northern and Southern Mediterranean countries facing common coastal and environmental challenges.
Over the years, Veronique has developed extensive experience working with national institutions, local authorities, universities and regional stakeholders on coastal governance and planning issues. She has accompanied the development of several ICZM strategies, coastal plans and policy support initiatives in Mediterranean countries, contributing to more integrated approaches to coastal management and sustainable development.
Her work focuses particularly on governance, institutional coordination, capacity-building and the sustainable blue economy. She has contributed to the design and implementation of regional training programmes and technical cooperation activities addressing climate adaptation, marine spatial planning, sustainable tourism and coastal management.
Her main professional interests include the governance and policy dimensions of coastal sustainability, with particular attention to the links between tourism development, climate resilience and integrated coastal planning in the Mediterranean region. She is also actively involved in promoting technical exchanges and knowledge-sharing among Mediterranean stakeholders working on shared coastal challenges.
